OPPO is the latest smartphone maker to promise its customers four years of Android updates. The brand announced that the new policy will get implemented on select flagship smartphones starting in 2023.

In a press release, besides announcing its plan to bring up to four Android updates to 2023 flagships, OPPO will offer security updates to these devices for up to 5 years. Previously, the company's premium handsets were limited to three Android updates and four years of security updates.

It's worth mentioning that OnePlus also renewed its update policy not long before OPPO made the announcement. The two are closely tied together, with a strategic partnership revealed recently. Now, OPPO, OnePlus, and Samsung are the Android OEMs that offer the longest software support.
