In Opensignal's latest Malaysia Mobile Network Experience Report, we have noticed some interesting insights. Long story short, this year's results show a big jump in download speeds by Malaysians thanks to 5G rollouts.
According to the report, Unifi and U Mobile are doing well in the 5G Experience category. Starting with Unifi, it took the lead in 5G Video Experience and 5G Download Speed, with speeds of 290.3 Mbps and a video experience score of 77.7 on a 100-point scale. Meanwhile, U Mobile excels in 5G Games Experience (88.1 points) and 5G Availability, with its 5G users spending 37.7% of their time with an active 5G connection.
On the other hand, Digi and Maxis also got some recognition from Opensignal. Digi is better in Overall Experience, earning top marks in Voice App Experience, Download Speed Experience and Upload Speed Experience. Maxis also secured the first Reliability Experience with 869 on a 100-1000 point scale and leading in Consistent Quality with 67.3%.
If you recall, MCMC had chosen U Mobile as the second 5G network provider earlier this month. The JENDELA report showed good evidence of why U Mobile was selected. Now combined this with Opensignal, perhaps it's why MCMC decided to go with the orange telco.
