PDRM recently announced that you can apply online for interstate travel using the Gerak Malaysia app during this current MCO period. They’ve also just announced the time table for interstate travel for each state from 1 May 2020 to 3 May 2020. Those looking to travel interstate back to the city can apply now until 29 April 2020.

On 29 April 2020, you can check the Gerak Malaysia app to confirm your destination and on 1 May 2020 to see if your application was approved. As previously revealed, interstate travel is only for specific reasons such as buying essential supplies within a 10km range, getting medical treatment, family emergencies like the death of a close relative and fixing a damaged vehicle or damage in your home.

If your application is approved, a QR code will be generated using the Gerak Malaysia app that you can show to pass through roadblocks. You can see the time table for each Malaysian state from 1 May 2020 to 3 May 2020 below.

  • 1 May 2020 - From Perak, Johor and Kelantan
  • 2 May 2020 - From Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Melaka and Pahang
  • 3 May 2020 - From Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu

Further details will be announced later this month but police also said that only applications to return to the city (for those who were previously stuck at kampung or at college) will be processed for now. You can download the Gerak Malaysia beta app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store

So, what do you think about all this? It's certainly helpful that you don't have to physically line up to apply for interstate travel at a Police Station and you get to stay safe from COVID-19, but we've noticed some users having issues with the Gerak Malaysia app. Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com
