Panel shipments for the iPhone 14 Plus to be ‘close to zero’ due to lacklustre demand

Previously, we reported that Apple paused the production line for the iPhone 14 Plus to reevaluate the demand for the device, which has been rather disappointing. Now, it looks like the demand for the iPhone 14 Plus is continuing to lag, to the point that panel shipments for the device are expected to be ‘close to zero’ next month.

As reported by 9to5Mac, this is according to reliable Apple analyst Ross Young who shared new data regarding panel shipments for the iPhone 14 series. Ross said that while panel shipments for the iPhone 14 Plus are expected to be close to zero in December, the overall supply chain for the iPhone 14 series in 2022 is actually outperforming the iPhone 13 series in 2021.

Ross elaborated that the iPhone 14 Series panel buys for 2022 are now 10% more compared to the 2021 iPhone 13 Series procurement. This is despite the smartphone market falling by 9 per cent.

Surprisingly, the most popular iPhone models this year are the Pro models, with Apple issuing a statement to investors and consumers recently that its production can’t catch up with the demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models. However, this is mainly due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions in China.
