5G still isn't accessible to many yet, but chipmakers are pushing for widespread adoption. For instance, there was the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 back in January. Well, Qualcomm also has a new mid-range 5G chipset that it just launched today.

The newly announced Snapdragon 780G is the latest Qualcomm 5G chipset, which aims to deliver powerful AI and image capture performance. Specifically, it uses Qualcomm's Spectra 570 triple ISP and 6th-Gen AI Engine to boost AI and image processing. Another key feature is the Snapdragon Elite that provides updateable GPU drivers and 10-bit HDR gaming.

The Snapdragon 780G is paired with the Snapdragon X53 5G modem that supports sub-6 GHz frequencies, with a max download speed of 3.3 Gbps. It also has WiFi 6 for speeds of up to 3.6Gbps. Unfortunately, we're not sure what the other specs are as the product page we were provided with seems to be unavailable.

However, new devices with the chipset will start launching in Q2 2021. We'll keep an eye out for more details about the chipset and related devices, so look forward to that! Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
