Previously, we reported that the Nothing Phone (2) will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processors. Now, a Qualcomm executive has unintentionally revealed the exact processor that would be used: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

As reported by 91mobiles, the matter was confirmed by Alex Katouzian, Qualcomm’s SVP and GM of Mobile on LinkedIn. In the post, Katouzian posted a photo of him with the Nothing team and congratulated Nothing CEO Carl Pei on the launch of Phone (2) with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Given that the post was deleted, the announcement may be an oversight by the Qualcomm SVP as the information was clearly not supposed to come out yet. Well, it could also mean that he made a mistake and that the Phone (2) would rock another Snapdragon 8 series processor.

Of course, Qualcomm’s flagship processor is definitely an upgrade to the current midrange Snapdragon 778G+ on the Phone (1), but many would be disappointed that the device won’t be sporting the latest and greatest from Qualcomm. More so, considering that the Phone (2) is touted for release at the end of this year, which would make the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 more than 2 years old by that time.
