Back in July, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an RM100 e-Tunai or eWallet aid to 10 million adult Malaysians. Fast forward to today, the government finally revealed when the eWallet credit would be distributed: December 2023.
As reported by Bernama, the distribution time frame was revealed by Deputy Finance Minister II Steven Sim Chee Keong earlier today. He also asked the public to be patient on the matter, assuring that the government will indeed fulfil its promise.
The Deputy Finance Minister lauded the RM1 billion initiative, saying that it will not only benefit the recipients’ households but also the local market, especially small traders and hawkers. The eWallet aid was part of the government’s initiative for the B40 and M40 groups.
Specifically, all Malaysians aged 21 and above would receive the RM100 credit should they earn under RM100000 annually. However, no mechanism for the e-Tunai aid has been announced just yet, including the participating eWallet platforms and method of redemption.
