Gamers may not have to wait much longer for Microsoft and ASUS' highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. A fresh leak suggests both models will officially launch on 20 August 2025, coinciding with their showcase at Gamescom 2025.
What We Know So Far
According to sources, the ROG Xbox Ally series pre-orders are expected to go live during Gamescom. Both devices are powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chips, though early analysis suggests only modest performance gains over previous models.
In terms of pricing, the ROG Xbox Ally X is rumoured to be priced at $899 (~RM3.8K), while the standard ROG Xbox Ally may come in at $599 (~RM2.5K). Previous leaks also suggested that it could be priced at $799.99 (~RM3.4K). To refresh your memory, the ROG Ally in Malaysia is RM3299, while the ROG Ally X is RM4299.
Gamescom Highlights
On top of that, it is said that Microsoft could offer a hands-on experience of the ROG Xbox Ally series at its Xbox booth. A playable demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available, potentially hinting at a shadow drop launch alongside the new handhelds.
Market Competition
The ROG Xbox Ally series is expected to compete directly with the MSI Claw A8, also rumoured for an August release. With competitive pricing and Game Pass integration, Microsoft and ASUS may have the edge in the handheld gaming race, but that remains to be seen. Until then, we shall wait for Gamescon and see what happens.
