Did you know that smartphones used to be 5+ inches in size? In the latter half of the last decade, screen sizes gradually enlarged to the 6+ inches we see today. Unfortunately, small devices aren't in demand anymore. Apple even discontinued the iPhone mini due to poor sales. Instead, Red Magic could continue that screen upsize trend.
nubia has been teasing its upcoming Red Magic 10 Pro series this week. Yesterday, the company uploaded a teaser for a new device that's the "Era of 7, a new generation". What the '7' refers to wasn't specified, but Digital Chat Station claims it's the display size. According to the Chinese tipster, the Red Magic 10 series will sport an Ultra variant with a 7+ inch screen.
Of course, "7+" is a broad range encompassing 7.1 to 7.9. But while possible, we don't think it will be larger than 7.5 inches. After all, that would be near tablet size and could become a more portable gaming option than the Red Magic Nova gaming tablet. Besides the screen size, the Red Magic 10 Ultra could have the largest battery in the smartphone space (due to the size) and the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset to power it.
In conclusion, it seems nubia is making a mid-way option between its standard-size Red Magic phones and the larger Nova gaming tablet. In that regard, this Ultra variant could be a popular option, depending on the price. Does a 7+ inch smartphone sound like something you'd want? Let us know in the comments on our Facebook page!
