After weeks of teasers, nubia today released the Red Magic 8S Pro series in China with some top-notch specs and features. As we’ve alluded to previously, these include a variant with a whopping 24GB of RAM!
Comprising the Red Magic 8S Pro and the Red Magic 8S Pro+, both have the same specs, except the latter offers up to twice the RAM and storage. Speaking of which, the series is powered by an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 (3.36GHz prime core and 719MHz GPU clock speed), which is similar to the Snapdragon for Galaxy chipset found on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
The Red Magic 8S Pro is offered up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, with the Red Magic 8S Pro+, as mentioned earlier, offering up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. There is also an improved ICE 12 cooling system for better thermal performance and a whopping 6000mAh battery with support for 165W charging.
As for the display, the series features a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1116 x 2480 that is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. There’s also a 16MP selfie camera embedded under the display, complementing the 50MP triple-camera setup at the rear.
Other notable specs include a 3.5mm audio jack and dual speakers with DTS:X Ultra Sound. In China, the Red Magic 8S Pro starts at CNY4000 or ~RM2599 for the 8/128GB variant all the way to 12/512GB configuration for CNY5699 or ~RM3661.
Meanwhile, the Red Magic 8S Pro+ starts at CNY5499 or ~RM3532 for the 16/256GB variant and goes all the way up to CNY7499 or ~RM4817 for the 24GB RAM and 1TB storage option. As of the time of writing, nubia has yet to reveal the series’ availability outside of China.
