Redmi's first gaming smartphone is teased to launch later this month

Earlier in January, it was rumoured that Xiaomi would be launching a Redmi gaming smartphone this year that comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. Today, the President of Xiaomi Group China and CEO of Redmi Lu Weibing teases that the device will be arriving this month.

According to Lu, the first Redmi gaming smartphone will feature Samsung's E4 AMOLED flat screen. It is also said that the device has been tested by showing excellent performance and energy efficiency. He added that the device will come with an attractive price tag as well.

For those who have no idea, MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 chipset is based on a 6nm process. Its configuration includes eight cores (1 + 3 + 4) with the main one being the Cortex-A78, which operates at 3.0 GHz. The platform also supports MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 technology that aims to improve the gaming experience on smartphones.
