There are many fellow Malaysians that have been stuck in Singapore for the last few weeks, but the situation is finally taking a turn for the better. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that people who are stuck in Singapore can begin to return, but must do so with an entry permit.
According to The Star, the Malaysian High Commission (MHC) will issue entry permits to those who want to return from Singapore starting tomorrow (27 April 2020). To get an entry permit, applicants must email their details to the MHC at [email protected]. The info required includes your name, IC number, passport number, expected departure date, and other relevant documents like your working pass, student pass, or permanent resident pass.
Note that the details must be submitted two days before your expected departure from Singapore. Once your application is approved, the entry permit will be emailed to you. You will then need to show the document at the immigration counter. Also, note that the number of entry permits will be limited to 400 daily.
If you're planning to come back soon, make sure to apply for the entry permit as soon as you can. Those who want to travel between states during the movement control order (MCO) can also do so through the Gerak Malaysia app. With that said, what are your thoughts on the measures our government has come up with?
