It might be still early, but words have been flying around that Samsung is planning to put in a 8GB RAM into their upcoming Galaxy S8. It wasn't the first time that we reported about this news, as previously Samsung "said" that they think 6GB RAM is enough so 8GB RAM could be out of the picture. Or is it?

SK Hynix, from South Korea is one has recently announced that they have made a silicon - two 8GB pieces connected in a dual-channel config and stacked in four layers, which results in 64GB that's equivalent of 8GB of mobile DRAM. According to the company, the result of this allows the phone to take 30% less space than the current LPDDR4 chips and 20% more power efficient which is great. SK Hynix calls this the LPDDR4X.

With this breakthrough, we think Samsung shouldn't have any excuses of saying there's lacking space. And who knows, Apple might even join the party with the 10th Anniversary iPhone this year with something new, we shall see.

In other news, South Korean news outlet The Investor also reported that Samsung is targeting 60 million unit shipments for the Galaxy S8 and is working for the mid-April release date this year. Seems overly ambitious, to be honest, but it's just a rumour. Stay tuned for more Samsung news at Technave.com.
