The talk of smartphones having displays that can be folded has been the hot topic for the industry since the first prototype display was shown several years ago. Now reports are saying that we are close to see a full production device, and it will come from Samsung, who will be showing it at the Mobile World Congress 2017.
Two potential models may appear at the mobile trade show. One is reminiscent to flip phones as it folds in half, not unlike a compact powder case. The other is a 5 inch device that can be flipped open to an eight inch device. Either of these two would be intriguing as a they could start a new wave of interesting designs from manufacturers.
We have reported a patent that Samsung filed for a smaller foldable device as well as the rumour that they would be releasing the bigger foldable device in early 2017. Both news collaborate with the latest report, so will we see a new paradigm in design next year? Stay tuned to TechNave to find out.
