After months of teasing, the Samsung Galaxy A9 finally got its official announcement for China. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but like the other Samsung Galaxy A (2016) smartphones, it will have a rounded metal frame and glass back. Check out the tech specs below:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB storage + microSD
  • 6-inch display (AMOLED, FHD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution)
  • 13MP rear camera (wide f/1.9 aperture, OIS) + 8MP front camera
  • features fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC
  • 4000 mAh battery (supports QuickCharge)
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop (Wait, what? Why not Android 6.0 Marshmallow?)

We expect the A9 to go for below RM2K around RM1.8K to RM1.6K but since Samsung Malaysia haven't made any major announcements, we expect to see the Samsung Galaxy A9 and it's A (2016) siblings next year in 2016. In related news, Samsung are reportedly going to focus on the budget segment next year, so the Galaxy A (2016) series look like a good start. Hopefully they'll slash prices accordingly as these days, flagship pricing starts from around RM1.7K already.
