Unlike the Galaxy S8, the Note 8 gets a new 12MP dual-lens camera setup that includes 2x optical zoom while still utilizing a dual pixel camera sensor. It also comes with Optical Image Stabilisation and an f/1.7 aperture which is perfect for low-light photos. A new mode called Live Focus allows you to adjust the bokeh before and after taking the photos.

Just like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus Portrait Mode, it switches the second lens that has 2x Optical zoom for the bokeh effects. It requires the subject to stay around 1.2 metres away and needs rather well-lit conditions to get a great bokeh result but the overall interface is easier to use. Another stand-out feature is Dual Capture, where both Live Focus (2X Zoom with Bokeh Effects) and Normal Picture (Wide Angle) are saved at the same time.

The App Pair feature in action

There is also a new feature that utilizes the Infinity Display, called the App Pair - this lets you launch two apps at once easily. Meaning that you can message your friends while watching a video, or even dialling a conference call with the number and agenda on your screen. Pretty sweet for multitaskers.

The new S Pen stylus

The S-Pen is now capable of a host of note-taking features letting you write animated messages and share them as a gif with a friend. You’ll also still be able to use the S-Pen to take notes with the screen off. The Note 8 is compatible with their Smart Switch software to help you transfer your photos, contacts and music from your old phone, so it should not be a hassle if you are planning to upgrade to this device. It's also water and dust resistant.

Did we also mention that with the Note 8, you are able to translate texts quickly? And get this, it's capable of translating up to 71 languages, even for converting units and foreign currencies.

In terms of pricing, unfortunately it wasn't mentioned but according to Bestbuy.com, it cost $929.99 (~RM3979) so don't be surprised if it cost around RM4K in Malaysia. On top of that, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has officially announced that the pre-order will be available on 5 September until 10 September 2017 on this page here. They've also pretty much confirmed that the Note 8 will make its debut on 15 September 2017, so customers who pre-order in that period will get a special pre-order package as well.
