IFA 2019 has already begun and Samsung Electronics was quick to kick off their event for "Five Decades of Designing Your Tomorrow". Among the highlights, the Korean tech company has announced that the Galaxy Fold 5G is now ready to go on sale, as well as supporting the world's first 8K HDR10+ content shows.

First up, the much delayed Galaxy Fold has finally relaunched in selected countries - its own homeland South Korea, followed by France, Germany, Singapore, U.K., U.S., and more, in Cosmos Black and Space Silver. Unfortunately, Malaysia isn't part of the first wave due to the lack of 5G connectivity.

In terms of tech specs, nothing much has changed except for the durability of the display, design and construction. It's been said that the UX interface has been redesigned as well for us to interact with the Galaxy Fold, along with new apps - App Continuity, Multi-Active Window and Edit footage.

In the TV industry, European's three key OTT (over-the-top) service providers, CHILI, The Explorers and MEGOGO, will be adopting 8K HDR10+ along with the support for 4K HDR10+. On top of that, other countries like China, Japan and the US are also supporting the technology. Panasonic and 20th Century Fox are also among the new companies that have joined the program.

In other news, there were also new home appliance products with its BESPOKE line-up of customisable refrigerators, new 55-inch QLED 8K TV lineup, as well as the Galaxy A90 5G to further expand Samsung’s 5G device footprint.
