Samsung could already have a name for its tri-fold device

Last year, a report claimed Samsung has plans to launch a tri-fold phone in 2025. Unlike the Huawei Mate XT, it's said this phone would have hinges that let both sides fold inwards. In addition, a tipster claimed that the name of this device has already been confirmed.

According to the source (in Korean), Samsung's tri-fold device could have a similar name to the Galaxy Z Fold series - the Galaxy G Fold. The foldable phone is said to measure 9.96 inches by 6.54-inch (or 253 x 166 mm), making it significantly larger than the Galaxy Z Fold devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Due to the size, the displays are also expected to be new components that won't be reused in other devices.

Interestingly, the device might not launch in 2025. While some reports claim the Galaxy G Fold would launch in Q2 2025, the source believed that Samsung would opt for a January 2026 launch. Originally, it was also rumoured that Samsung would only manufacture 200000 Galaxy G Fold phones. However, a 2026 launch could mean the company has time to make more units.

A lower production volume makes sense because the Galaxy G Fold is most likely a niche and expensive product. Having said that, would you be interested in a tri-fold device like this? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates like this.
