Just a few days ago, 3C listings for the batteries of two Samsung smartphones were spotted. They were believed to be for the Galaxy S21 series that's expected next year, with development for the phone well underway. Now, it has been confirmed that there will be three models in the series like in this year's Galaxy S20 series.

According to rootmygalaxy, Samsung has started to code the firmware for the Galaxy S21 series. Some parts of the code were screenshot as evidence and they show the model numbers SM-G991U, SM-G996U, and SM-G998U. Those should be the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra respectively. In case you aren't aware, the Galaxy S20 series is numbered similarly: SM-G980, SM-G985, and SM-G988. The 'U' here would indicate that it's a variant.

In addition to that, the new phones are expected to run on Android 11 with Samsung's OneUI version 3.0 skin. OneUI 3.0 is expected to release between October to November 2020, so by the time the Galaxy S21 series launches next year there may already be some new features and improvements. There could be new Your Phone or Samsung DeX integrations as well.

Bear in mind that we can't confirm anything yet, but it's quite evident that Samsung is already hard at work developing the Galaxy S21 series.
