Some Android users have been asking for a quick file sharing feature for a long time. Many wish for an Android version of Apple's AirDrop, as it allows for the transfer of files between Apple computers and devices wirelessly without needing internet connectivity or sharing storage devices. Google has been working on one called Nearby Sharing, but now it seems Samsung is creating its own version as well.

According to XDA Developers, Samsung's version is called Quick Share, a tool that will allow two Samsung devices to quickly send files to one another. The idea here is that when a Samsung smartphone user is near another one, the second user will appear on a sharing list when the first user wants to send something. Users will also be able to upload files to Samsung Cloud and stream the file from there to a Samsung Smart Things device.

The folks at XDA got to test the feature and mentioned that it comes with the option that helps restrict who you can share files with if necessary. You will be able to determine if files can be sent to 'Everyone' or only people in your contact list. To be able to use Quick Share, both the sender and receiver must own Samsung devices that support it.

The feature is expected to be available in the upcoming Galaxy S20 Plus and we can expect it to be rolled out to other Samsung smartphones over the course of 2020 through a software update. However, there are no announcements on what devices will get it yet and when, so it's best to temper your expectations.
