It's not often to hear that an Android phone can get up to seven years of updates. But that all changed when Google announced that it will support the Pixel 8 series for up to 7 years of OS upgrades. Although not yet confirmed, sources say Samsung is also planning to follow Google's footsteps

Previously back in 2020, Samsung initially offered to support four major OS upgrades and five years of security patches. That is quite impressive already, but this leak of up to seven years may be announced at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Should it be true, the Galaxy S24 series could get updated to Android v21.

In terms of other tech specs and features, it's said that Samsung will be showcasing AI capabilities on the Galaxy S24 series this year. After all, the huge hint gave it away with its tagline "Galaxy AI is coming". We are also expecting the latest Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets but other than that, we don't think there would be a lot of hardware upgrades.

The first Galaxy Unpacked event is set for 17 January 2024 but for our time zone in Malaysia, it will be on 18 January 2024 at 2 AM. If you want to check out the livestream, you can find it on Samsung Malaysia’s YouTubeOfficial WebsiteFacebook and Newsroom, on 18 January 2024, at 2.00 AM Malaysian Time. Also, you can register your interest at www.samsung.com/my/unpacked/ to receive up to RM400 e-vouchers and stand a chance to win daily mystery gifts.
