Apart from screens that can unfold and slide-out, Samsung also showcased a Smartphone OLED that achieved more than a peak brightness of 2000nits. Verified by UL Solutions, it is the industry’s first display to reach this level of luminance performance.
To put this into context, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen had a peak brightness of 1750nits. For those who don’t know, brightness often affects how well you can see the display in direct sunlight or under bright lights. If your phone’s display brightness is low, say 300nits, then you may not be able to see your phone’s display at all outside under the sun.
There’s still no news yet whether this new 2000nits OLED display will be featured in what phone just yet. Many are hopeful that it could be the upcoming Galaxy S23 series (probably the S23 Ultra), but again… nothing has been confirmed yet.
How bright is your phone’s display? If you can’t see it under direct sunlight, you may need to increase the brightness or get a brighter phone, especially if you’re out and about a lot. As always, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
