Samsung could announce the new version of the Android OS update policy at the upcoming Unpacked event. This time, the company is expected to provide a handful of devices with four major OS updates rather than just three with five years of security patches

According to a leak, the devices that appear to be eligible for this upcoming policy are the Galaxy S21Galaxy S21+Galaxy S21 UltraGalaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S22 series, as well as the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup, and the latest two foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 will ship with Android 12, so they should eventually be updated to Android 16 somewhere in 2025-2026.

It looks like Samsung is striving to outdo everyone in the industry when it comes to extending the life cycle of its smartphones. Currently, Google only provides four years of updates, which was the Korean tech giant's previous plan if this news turns out to be accurate.
