After showing off how its rollable display works in a concept video, Samsung is now claimed to be launching a rollable smartphone next year. The news comes from tipster Ice Universe and analyst Ross Young, and both of them are known for providing accurate leaks of smartphones. Other than that, the name might've also been confirmed according to LetsGoDigital.
It is found out that Samsung has applied the name "Z Roll" with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Therefore, the final name of the rollable device is likely to be Samsung Galaxy Z Roll. Furthermore, it is also mentioned that the Korean tech giant has been working on the device for a while now. With the appearance of the rollable display in the official concept video, it further proves that the company is not far from bringing one to the market.
At the moment, there's not a single rollable smartphone in the market. Not long ago, OPPO has announced its rollable phone concept which is the OPPO X 2021. However, the company has no plan to make it commercially available anytime soon. Other than that, LG was supposed to announce a rollable device in Q1 this year as well, but the news of its mobile division getting shut down broke out afterwards.
