The super-thin Huawei Ascend P7 is currently the company's main flagship smartphone but in terms of screen protection it usually uses a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. Huawei CEO, Richard Yu recently showed off a Huawei Ascend P7 with a sapphire crystal display even to the point of daring journalists to scratch it with a knife. He also went on to say that more 'Shocking products' will be coming from Huawei soon. We have no idea what sort of tech specs these 'shocking' devices may have but Huawei has been on a roll recently, revealing the Huawei Honor 6 and other devices. A metal body Huawei Ascend D3 is rumoured to be coming soon at the upcoming IFA 2014 in September where it, the Sapphire crystal display Huawei Ascend P7 and other 'shocking' devices could appear. Still no details on Malaysia release dates, tech specs, features or pricing but we'll be waiting for more good stuff from Huawei Malaysia so stay tuned. In the meantime, do check out our review of the Huawei Ascend P7 as the tech specs for a Sapphire crystal display version probably wouldn't be much different from the original.

When you say flagship smartphone, the characteristics most people will think about is super thin with premium features and an equally premium price. While the Huawei Ascend P7 is certainly super thin at just 6.5mm and packs in a whole bunch of premium flagship-level features, it certainly isn't priced as one. It is also one of the lightest smartphones we've ever reviewed. Is it excellent enough though? Read our full review of the Huawei Ascend P7 smartphone below and find out.

Featuring tech specs that include a 5-inch Full HD 1080p screen, 7-layer pattern infused backside and metallic chassis, the Huawei Ascend P7 combines key features from other smartphones while offering a design wholly their own. Thanks to Huawei Malaysia and a good amount of luck, we managed to get our hands on a Huawei Ascend P7 smarpthone early, so do check out our hands-on video of the smartphone below. The smartphone is currently available in most Malaysian retail stores while telco deals from Malaysian telcos like Celcom and U Mobile involving the Ascend P7 should be coming soon. The Ascend P7 currently retails for RM1499 and we'll be doing a full review of the smartphone shortly, so do stay tuned for more updates.
