In yet another piece of news relating to MyDigital, the Sarawak State Government and the Federal Government officially signed an agreement to integrate SarawakPass with Malaysia’s national MyDigital ID system. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, marking a historic step toward a fully interoperable digital identity ecosystem for Malaysians.

This collaboration aligns with national efforts to streamline identity verification, enhance digital access, and strengthen cybersecurity across government and public services. According to a report by The Star, the integration is aimed at delivering a seamless, secure experience for citizens as they move between State and Federal digital platforms.

Connecting Over 7.8 Million Users Across State and Federal Platforms

SarawakPass, the State’s digital identity platform with more than 1.8 million users, will soon operate in tandem with MyDigital ID, which currently serves nearly 6 million Malaysians nationwide. Bringing these two ecosystems together will allow smoother logins, consistent verification processes, and broader access to online services without requiring multiple identity registrations.

The move is expected to significantly improve user experience for Sarawakians interacting with both Sarawak Government services and Federal digital systems, particularly as more services shift into secure online channels.

High-Level Commitment From State and Federal Leaders

The agreement was signed by Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki and Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit Director Datu Grace Huong Siew Hung, representing SarawakPass.

On the Federal side, the signatories were National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) Chief Executive Ir. Dr. Megat Zulhairy bin Megat Tajuddin and MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd CEO Encik Nik Hisham bin Nik Ibrahim.

Their participation underscores the importance of the integration as a national digital infrastructure initiative, going beyond administrative convenience to establish a secure, trusted identity layer for the country.

A Seamless Experience Through Secure APIs and Single Sign-On

The integration will centre on the development of secure APIs, cross-platform login, single sign-on (SSO) capabilities, and consent-based data sharing. This approach ensures that user data is accessed only with permission and that identity verifications remain consistent and tamper-resistant across both Sarawak and Federal systems.

Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS) will act as the State’s technology provider, while the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) ensures digital compliance and regulatory alignment. Federally, NACSA and MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd will oversee the national technical standards and cybersecurity requirements.

Launch Expected in Early 2026

The unified SarawakPass–MyDigital ID solution is scheduled for rollout in the first quarter of 2026. Once activated, users can expect more secure interactions, unified authentication across platforms, and reduced friction when accessing government services online.

Also, starting from December 2025 onwards, Malaysian telcos will start to deploy MyDigital ID integration. You can read more about this news right here, and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
