WhatsApp has been working on bringing many new features to improve the users' experience. After making dark mode available for all platforms, features including multiple device logins and mute chats forever are also reportedly in the works. Now, a new feature called 'Search the Web' has arrived and is already available to some users.

The 'Search the Web' feature is for users to fact-check a message that has been forwarded for who knows how many times. By tapping on a magnifying glass button, the chat app will prompt you a message that guides you to your browser for searching information online. It works by uploading the message to the browser without WhatsApp reading the content of it.

It is indeed a nice feature for us to stop spreading rumours or fake news. These days, it is easy for us to fall into believing information that is not true or hasn't been proven. Therefore, this feature might help to bring awareness to the users by fact-checking the information sent by someone else. 'Search the Web' is being rolled out starting today in Brazil, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, UK, and the US for those on the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android, iOS, and WhatsApp Web.
