It was only yesterday that Shopee announced an increase in commission fees on the sellers. Today, we also found out that the DuitNow Transfer service via ID Type will be discontinued on the Shopee app. This includes your mobile number, NRIC and others.

According to the support page, the effect will happen on 19 March 2025. The reason why Shopee will discontinue this method is because the company wants to focus on enhancing its core features and providing a better user experience. Additionally, Shopee also said users can still pay, transfer, top up and receive DuitNow Transfer with other existing methods.

To be clear, other ID types include account numbers, army or police IDs, passports and business registration numbers. You can still do a Fund Transfer using DuitNow Transfer to another bank account or e-wallet using the DuitNow QR, as well as via ShopeePay e-wallet. In the meantime, Shopee users can still use DuitNow Transfer via ID Type until the aforementioned date.
