After being teased by Sony previously, the Japanese tech company has finally released the Sony Xperia 5 IV today. Similar in size to the Xperia 5 III, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 paired with 8GB of RAM under the hood.
Like other Sony Xperia smartphones, the main emphasis of the Xperia 5 IV is its cameras which offer pro features such as optical stabilisations, autofocus, Real-time Eye AF, Real-time tracking, HDR and distance analysis with AI on all lenses. As for the sensors themselves, Sony went quite conventional by equipping all three with 12MP sensors.
Specifically, the triple-camera setup at its rear features a 16mm 1/2.5-inch ultrawide, a 24mm 1/1.7-inch wide with 1.8um pixels and a 60mm 1/3.5-inch telephoto. As for the front-facing camera, Sony has equipped the Xperia 5 IV with a 12MP 1/2.9-inch sensor with a fixed-focus 24mm f2.0 lens.
Besides that, the device also sports a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels. The battery is rated at 5000mAh with support for 30W fast charging and is the first in the series to feature wireless charging.
Other notable specs include 128GB storage, 3.5mm audio jack, IP68 water-resistant, Gorilla Glass Victus on both sides, microSD card slot and colour options of Green, Black, as well as Ecru White. The Xperia 5 IV is priced at USD999 or ~RM4477 in the United States where it will be shipped starting this October.
In Malaysia, Sony has announced that the Xperia 5 IV will only be available starting in Q4 of 2022. Moreover, only a Black colour option will be sold in our country, though an official local price has yet to be revealed.
