As we’ve alluded to previously, Sony today announced its latest premium smartphone, the Sony Xperia 5 V. Featuring the latest “Exmor T for mobile” camera sensor found on the Xperia 1 V, read on to find out more about the device.

In a statement, Sony claims that the aforementioned camera sensor can capture human expression with beautiful skin textures. Moreover, it supposedly enables a wide variety of shooting, such as advanced bokeh rendering for portrait shots using AI and a selection of colour presets to create users’ preferred moods or atmospheres.

In a more technical sense, the device features a rear dual-camera setup, comprising a 1/1.35-inch 52MP main sensor paired with a secondary 12MP 1/2.5-inch ultra-wide. Meanwhile, at the front, there’s a 12MP selfie camera with a 1/2.9-inch sensor.

Under the hood, the Xperia 5 V is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. There’s also a 5000mAh battery with support for 30W charging.

The Xperia 5 V starts at EUR999 or ~RM5036 in Europe and will be available in the market in late September. As for its Malaysia release, Sony didn’t mention any price or specific availability date.

What was mentioned was only a vague “available in Malaysia from Q4 2023” line in its media release and a sole 256GB storage option on its official Malaysian page. Hence, do stay tuned to TechNave for the latest developments on this and for more trending tech news and releases.
