Huawei Malaysia held a media briefing for their Huawei Watch 2 today, confirming that Malaysia will be getting the 4G LTE version for RM1999. Featuring a premium round metal body like traditional watches, the Huawei Watch 2 has a sporty plastic strap and is completely standalone, meaning it has its own nano SIM and can work without a phone. No news on the Huawei Watch 2 Classic or Porsche Design version yet but the Watch 2 is currently available with Maxis who is offering the Watch 2 with the Huawei P10 or Mate 9 on their Zerolution bundles from RM78 per month featuring 2 nano SIMs for a single number.
The Huawei Watch 2 is IP68 water and dust resistant with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 4GB of storage and NFC for mobile payments (no news when this will be available yet). As mentioned earlier, the 4G LTE version can use nano SIM cards, allowing it to work without a phone.
Coming in Carbon Black and Dynamic Orange (Titanium Grey coming soon), other features include a 7 to 8 hour battery life and VO2Max virtual training coach. Like other smartwatches, it offers notifications for email and messages but takes it a step further with Facebook Messenger, Google Hangout, Evernote, GMail, Google Maps, Uber and other apps optimized for smartwatch use.
