Students in Japan held virtual graduation in Minecraft due to schools being cancelled

If there's one thing we learned in recent weeks, it's that the effect of the coronavirus pandemic can sometimes result in fun happenings. For example, last week there was news of a professor in China conducting online lessons using anime avatars. Now, we have news of students hosting their own graduation ceremony in Minecraft.

Schools in Japan have been closed for two weeks as a precautionary measure against the virus from spreading. As a result, students won't be able to attend their official graduation ceremonies. To work around the issue, some students decided to have the ceremony digitally in Minecraft. Twitter user backyennew has a son who attended this virtual graduation and posted a short video of what it looked like.

Of course, this isn't an official ceremony by the school and is just something the students decided to do for themselves.
