After launching the expensive AirPods Max last week, Apple could now be striving for something more affordable in its audio segment. Earlier, it was reported that the tech giant could be launching an AirPods Pro Lite in early 2021 but the rumour has calmed down a little. Now, a supplier has come out claiming that the rumour is true and we will indeed get the AirPods Pro Lite in the first half of the year.
According to The Elec, the supplier claimed that Apple will launch a Lite version of the Airpods Pro without noise-canceling feature in the first half of 2021. It is stated that a South Korean supplier is now developing a system-in-package (SiP) with Airpods’ H1 chip for the AirPods Pro Lite. The SiP used in the Lite version is said to be a simple square shape while the regular AirPods Pro has one that comes in a round shape.
Other than that, the supplier also mentioned that there would be a 20% cut from the price of the regular AirPods Pro. The current AirPods Pro is priced at RM1,099 in Malaysia. Therefore, the Lite version could be somewhere around RM800. However, suppliers normally wouldn't have insight into Apple’s marketing or pricing plans, so take this with a pinch of salt.
