Earlier today, Telekom Malaysia announced a new partnership with Perodua to advance the local electric vehicle (EV) industry. Under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), the partnership will drive the EV industry growth through four strategic areas: Hyperconnected Network, Advancing Digital Technology, Enriching Customer Experience, and Environmental Sustainability.

Through TM One, Telekom Malaysia will provide Perodua with the necessary infrastructure. This includes fixed and wireless connectivity, private 5G for automotive applications, and smart manufacturing technologies to improve production. Besides infrastructure, TM One will offer Cloud, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and AI capabilities. to provide initiatives for smart manufacturing, GPU as a Service, EV and autonomous driving technologies.

Moreover, the partnership aims to deliver co-created products like customised infotainment systems and innovations in smart mapping solutions. The partnership also promises benefits to the local industry through workforce training, R&D, and sustainable practices. Perodua already announced its EMO II EV Prototype earlier this month, so the impact of this partnership on the completed project is unknown. However, better infrastructure and technology will undoubtedly help in future Perodua EV development.

We expect TM and Perodua to announce more specifics about the partnership in the future. But until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
