TNB will begin installing Smart Meters nationwide

A few months ago, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced that it planned to test a new type of Smart Meter in Malacca, before expanding to areas in the Klang Valley. It seems like trials have been successful, as the company plans to expand installation nationwide.

According to the announcement, the Smart Meter will be installed in houses "soon". With the new Smart Meter, you will be able to review your electricity usage in real-time via the myTNB app or website. It'll be useful for those of you who want to carefully manage your monthly expenses, as you can adjust your electricity usage accordingly.

However, the roll-out schedule was not specified at all, so how "soon" is still up in the air. For all you know, it could take months before the new meter is installed in your house. After all, a nationwide project would be a massive undertaking that requires time. You can check out the TNB Smart Meter homepage for more details.
