GTA Online gets Arena War update

Arena War is a place where “ruthless gladiatorial combat meets the bleeding-edge of vehicular modification technology in one spectacular – and highly combustible – competition.” The mode seems like it will have a career path of its own where players can earn points to rank up and soup up some crazy vehicles and from what we saw, includes a monster truck. Guess we know what I’ll be doing this Christmas!

South Korea clamps down on boosters with 2 year jail time and massive fine

Here’s a pretty effective way to curb boosting, threaten them with a 2 year jail time and a USD $18000 (~ RM75267) fine. The law is an amended Game Industry Promotion Act in South Korea which already penalises hackers, illegal distribution and licensing of video games and more.

The move is done to prevent negative impact on games that utilize skill based rankings to promote a healthier in game ecosystem. Maybe Malaysia should start adopting this move since we are heading to become Southeast Asia’s esports hub.
