As we’ve reported previously, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) held a meeting with Tesla delegations today, held at Menara MITI. Its Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul took to his social media to provide insight into the meeting, revealing Tesla’s commitment to strengthening the EV ecosystem in Malaysia.
Tengku Zafrul asserted that the meeting today focused on the progress and implementation of MITI’s Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Global Leaders programme. He added that as of July 2024, Tesla has installed 52 Supercharger units with a 250kW capacity, 54 Wall Connector AC units and over 4500 home charger units in Peninsular Malaysia.
Moreover, the MITI Minister revealed that Tesla has invested USD13.5 million or ~RM59.1 million in our country, showing a strong commitment to developing Malaysia’s EV charging infrastructure.
Tesla also iterated its support for the local ecosystem which includes 9 Malaysian companies in the development of EV charging infrastructure, as well as collaboration with local institutes of higher learning. This collaboration is expected to drive Malaysia as a green technology hub in the region.
