Previously, we shared that Perodua will produce the first affordable electric vehicle (EV) for the local market by the end of 2025. Now, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has reiterated this plan, saying that the government is ready to help in achieving the goal.

Taking to X, MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul said that when talking about EVs in our country, many complained about their high price. Hence, that is why the government has appointed Perodua as the main manufacturer of affordable EVs under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2023.
