Earlier today, we talked about how HMD is entering the Malaysian market with upcoming new original phones. At the same time, we also noted a new HMD Barbie Phone on HMD Malaysia's website. Although there's no price tag and availability yet, here's what we know about it.

In collaboration with Mattel, the HMD Barbie Phone is a retro flip phone that features calling and texting without any social media distractions. The covers are replaceable too, coming with two cases - 1992’s iconic Totally Hair Barbie doll and a vintage ‘shooting heart’ design. There is also a beaded phone strap with iconic Barbie phone charms, including a tiny roller skate and a Barbie doll-sized ice cream.

If you must know, the camera is nothing to shout about. It sports a 0.3MP sensor just like back in the old, old days (gosh, I'm old), shooting Y2K-style images. The Barnie Phone can last up to nine hours of talk time and users can use the pink USB-A to USC Type-C charging cable. The memory configuration is just a measly 64MB + 128MB and oh, the battery pack is pink too.

At the moment, the HMD Barbie Phone will be released in the USA first. We don't know if HMD plans to sell it in Malaysia since it appeared on the website but we guess we just have to wait and see.
