If you're a tech enthusiast, you would know about Samsung's AMOLED and LG's OLED displays, but have you ever heard of BOE's OLED displays? That's right, there is a new player in the market and the last time we mentioned them was a rumour that Apple could be using their materials for the upcoming iPhone 12 series. It's also reported that the Huawei Mate 40 series will be using them

BOE or also known as Beijing Oriental Electronics, is a Chinese electronic component manufacturer in China and the company have been around for along time. In this latest news, BOE have been chosen to supply OLED panels to Huawei and it will be featured on the Mate 40 series but here's the kicker, it won't be just an OLED display but an on-cell type. What this means is that there is a touch-sensitive layer embedded in the display panel itself unlikes previous display technology.

On paper, an on-cell OLED display is said to offer better viewing, functionality, as well as being thinner and affordable. Besides that, Twitter leakster @RODENT950, also teased that the Mate 40 series are retaining the 'waterfall' curved edge display. He made some hints on his tweet post hinting that the Mate 40 could feature a single punch-hole front camera, whereas the Mate 40 Pro could have a dual front camera setup in a pill-shaped manner.

The upcoming Huawei Mate 40 series should be unveiled in September/October as per tradition, so we expect to see more rumours popping up in the next few weeks. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
