The Sharp RoBoHon is a smartphone in a robot you can talk to

We've certainly come a long way in terms of smartphone technology with personal assistants like Siri and Google Now that we can command with our voice. How about a walking talking smartphone in the shape of a bipedal robot that not only listens to you and makes voice activated calls but also recognizes your face and talks back? This is the main idea behind the Sharp RoBoHon which offers smartphone features and functionality in a robot body.

Featuring 4G LTE connectivity, a 2-inch display on the back and a camera and projector on the face, RoBoHon presumably plays back video, takes most voice commands and responds intelligently to its user. The robot itself is 8-inches tall and weighs in at 390g so it isn't that portable. From what we've seen in the teaser video, RoBoHon doesn't walk that fast either so it probably isn't the optimum robot butler you're looking for.

Be that as it may, Sharp have said that the RoBoHon is expected in either Q1 or Q2 of 2015. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but since the video is in Japanese we expect it to be sold just in Japan as well. You can probably get it from Japan next year but there's no guarantee it will respond to you in English or any other non-Japanese language. It is still mighty cute though.
