The iPhone 12 mini may be discontinued due to low sales

At the end of January, there was a report that the iPhone 12 mini production line got slowed down. Due to the rather low sales result, Apple decided to move the production focus on the other iPhone 12 models. However, it seems that the company may actually discontinue the mini variant in Q2 this year.

Based on multiple reports, supply chain analyst William Yang from JPMorgan Chase noted that the iPhone 12 mini production volume got lowered to 11 million units. This is considered a weak demand and the supply chain may be put on halt. The iPhone 12 is also in the same boat with 9 million units, so both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max production may be raised by 2 million and 11 million units respectively.

On the other hand, Yang said that there may not be a new iPhone SE phone in 2021. The iPhone 11 is also said to be increased by 8 million units. With this in mind, the news may be actually true as many sources reported the same.

While the majority of US consumers didn't favour the mini variant as hoped, it's unknown how well the sales did perform in the Asian region. But what do you think? Should Apple discontinue the iPhone 12 mini production? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
