Whenever a new phone gets released, content creators waste no time in testing out its capabilities in terms of performance, cameras and others. Of course, the iPhone 15 series is getting a lot of attention as usual but this one doesn't sound good.
According to popular tech YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss (a.k.a. Aaron), the iPhone 15 Pro's battery life is quite disappointing. In this video, he gathered all the iPhone 15 models as well as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 Pro Max. In total, the battery test took him 10 hours as he opened all the same apps on what he would do in the morning until the afternoon.
In just 9 hours, the iPhone 14 was the first to go flat as expected. But what comes after that is quite a shocker - the iPhone 15 Pro which came next after a few minutes, lasting only 9 hours and 20 minutes. After that, it was followed by the iPhone 15, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 15 Plus as the winner.
For context, the iPhone 15 Plus lasted 13 hours and 19 minutes in the battery test video. It even outlasted the iPhone 15 Pro Max by 2 hours which is most impressive, given that the battery level differences are not that far apart. However, we think that this may have something to do with the refresh rate. The non-pro and pro variants are using a 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate respectively.
Apple claimed that the A17 Pro chipset on the pro variants has "3x performance/watt vs competition" as well as being the most efficient mobile CPU ever. While there can be many factors in draining the battery life, we honestly expected better because the non-pro models are still using an A16 Bionic chipset.
