The iPhone 16 series will be announced very soon (tomorrow at 1 AM via livestream) and we should be expecting the local prices. That said, it is possible that the launching prices could be higher than last year's due to inflation but according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, that may not be the case.
In his Twitter X post, he's not expecting the iPhone 16 Pro to cost over the $1,000 price point. Making a reference to the iPhone X back in 2017, it is true that Apple has been keeping the same price tags over the years, even after phasing out the 128GB models and replacing them with 256GB ones, except for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Previously, there were reports that Apple could increase the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB model's price to $1,099. Last year, the company did the same thing to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, increasing from $1,099 to $1,199 after taking away the 128GB storage option. But should Gurman's tip be true, then the iPhone 16 series could retain the original starting prices.
I expect the touch sensitive camera button to be on all iPhone 16 models tomorrow. The slimmer bezels on the Pro line are noticeable, as are battery life improvements. I don’t expect the Pro entry price to be raised from $999. Big focus will be on AI & A18 chip across the board.

In addition, Gurman also mentioned a couple of iPhone 16 series features. For instance, he's expecting the touch-sensitive camera button (also known as the Capture Button) to be present on all iPhone 16 models. The iPhone 16 pro models should have slimmer bezels and noticeable battery life improvements. We can also expect big news on AI and A18 chips.
In the Malaysian market, the iPhone 15 Pro model's starting price is at RM5,499. Perhaps the iPhone 16 Pro's price could start the same as well? We shall wait and see. Also, turns out that most iPhone users don't really care about the newest features when buying a new one. You can read about the new survey report here.
