It's been only a week since Barclays claimed Apple had cut iPhone 16 series productions. There could be some truth in that, but we have another update from Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple analyst giving us some iPhone 16 series shipment updates.
According to the analyst, the assembly orders are more or less the same and suppliers are tasked to produce more iPhone 16 Pro models for China's upcoming National Day. This indicates that the Pro models have met the market's expectations, but the non-Pro ones (iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus) have been slightly reduced for mid-November onwards.
Kuo said the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus' component orders are less than 3-5% than before, but it's hardly an issue. Despite that, data shows that the demand for the two non-Pro models is not that high. For the fourth quarter of 2024, the production iPhone 16 estimation is only 88-89 million units (for 4Q24). It's still a lot of units, but compared to 2023 of the same quarter with 90-91 million units, the shipments are slightly lower.
At the moment, Apple Intelligence features have yet to arrive but are expected to roll out at the end of October. That should project the true strength of the iPhone 16 series so until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
