Earlier, rumours were saying that Sony will be bringing the Xperia Compact back again. The renders have also been leaked showing the design of the smartphone that comes with a dual-camera setup at the back and a front camera placed in a waterdrop notch. However, fans might be disappointed with this latest report claiming that it is not going to happen.
According to Chinese tipster AndroidNext from Weibo, Sony's upcoming 5.5-inch smartphone will not be the Xperia Compact but a successor of 2019's Xperia Ace instead. It is also said that it will be an exclusive device for the Japanese market, just like how Sony did with the predecessor.
To recall, the previous Xperia Ace is a mid-range device that features a 5-inch display. Therefore, it makes sense that the upcoming Sony device would be the Xperia Ace 2 that comes with mid-range specs and of course, a small screen as well.
