Financial Times revealed that Bytedance, the owners of popular app TikTok is currently developing its own smartphone. This isn’t that surprising as the company had acquired some people from Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Smartisan.

This is the company’s first attempt at making its own hardware. Prior to this, the company specializes in software such as the popular TikTok app, TopBuzz and news app called News Republic. It is rumoured that the device may be an affordable mid-range smartphone aimed at teenagers as it fits the demography the company’s software and apps aim for.

For now, no tech specs and features have been revealed and no release date has been mentioned either. I’m not too sure what to expect from the phone other than the company’s apps pre-installed into the device. Perhaps the hardware may be built to work better with their apps such as TikTok to allows users to do more on the platform? What do you think? Keep up with the latest smartphone news on TechNave.com!
