In recent months, YouTube and Instagram have released their own short video services. It's clear that the formula is popular, but some people do want slightly longer videos. As such, TikTok has decided to expand in the opposite direction.

According to the announcement, TikTok users have been requesting the option for some time now. Normally, you can only make videos up to 60-seconds long. Some content creators find that insufficient, so the company will be adding the option to upload longer videos of up to 3 minutes. This option will be available globally in the coming weeks.

Before this, TikTok creators had to upload multiple videos as a series. That's interesting in its own way, and short videos are great for those who don't have a lot of time. But if what a creator often needs is just an extra 10 seconds, the new option will definitely provide much more flexibility.

While the release date for the option hasn't been announced, TikTok has a substantial user base in Malaysia, so we might get an update soon. With that said, do you think the extra 2 minutes would be useful for you? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
