Unexpected-Xiaomi-products-part-2-2.jpg

In conjunction with the anniversary of our “Top 10 unexpected products that Xiaomi came up with” article, we’re back again with another top 10 unexpected products that Xiaomi sells. Like last time, the compilation includes not-so-well-known products, some of which are not available in the Malaysian market ranging from air fryers to water quality test kits.

Similar to the previous article, the products listed here should not be related to smartphones and must not already be well known in the local market. With all that being said, let’s have a closer look, shall we?

1# Xiaomi Air Fryer 3.5L

First on our list is the Xiaomi Mijia Air Fryer that was released not too long ago. The air fryer has a capacity of up to 3.5L, which is more than enough for various kinds of food ranging from a whole chicken to fries.

That’s not all. You also need minimal to almost no oil to cook your food, thanks to the 360-degree hot air circulation feature. That said, you're able to get great tasting food while cutting down on oil consumption. It is also energy efficient as it can generate up to 200-degree Celsius of heat by using around 1500W of power.

2# Xiaomi Water Quality TDS Tester Pen

It is no surprise that water is important for humans as the average person consists of around 60% water. With that in mind, we need to consume clean water that is free from pollutants that could potentially harm us.

In comes the Xiaomi Water Quality TDS Tester Pen, that uses a high precision metal TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) probe to inform the user if water filtration is required by detecting organic compounds, heavy metals, and more. It’s also extremely portable as it’s only around the size of your typical office ballpoint pen.

3# Xiaomi Mijia Smart Mosquito Repellent 2

When living in a tropical country, one of the biggest and potentially harmful problems almost everyone had to deal with was mosquitoes. Not only do their bites cause swelling and itchiness, but they’re also known to carry deadly viruses such as dengue.

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Mosquito Repellent 2 can keep mosquitoes at bay by using a transfluthrin tablet that’s capable of lasting up to 1080 hours each. The device can be powered using either two AA batteries or via a direct USB-Type C cable, and it supports various smart features, including voice control.

4# Xiaomi Yeelight LED Bulbs and LED strips

For those who are not aware (like myself), Yeelight is a Xiaomi owned smart light company that produces lighting products such as LED Bulbs and LED strips. Both the products mentioned can display up to 16.8 million colours, and the lights can be controlled via a smartphone app and more.

Not only that, it seems that selected Yeelight products are also compatible with third-party products from brands such as Razer, Google Home, SmartThings, and more. Furthermore, with Yeelight’s popularity growing, we wouldn't be surprised to see more brands integrating Yeelights LED bulbs and LEDs strip into their ecosystems.

5# Xiaomi Mijia Double Induction Cooker

Other than the Air Fryer mentioned above, it seems that there’s also the Xiaomi Mijia Double Induction Cooker that’s capable of adjusting each zone’s temperature independently. With that being said, you’ll be able to cook different types of food independently on each of the cooking zones.

It’s also very convenient as it only uses electricity instead of cooking gas, which cuts the need to buy gas and have them delivered. Also, did you know that apparently induction cookers can heat cookware much faster than a conventional gas stove?

6# Huohou Automatic Wine Bottle Electric Opener

If you’re a wine enthusiast or see yourself opening a bottle with a cork constantly, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Huohou has an Automatic Wine Bottle Electric Opener that’s able to uncork bottles effortlessly in just 6 seconds. Not only is it a great conversation starter at the dinner table, but it will make for an interesting gift for any wine aficionado out there.

Also, it’s rechargeable, allowing you to open up to 70 bottles before you need to top up the battery using a Micro USB cable. Because of that, the device can last up to around 4 months before it needs to be fully charged.

7# Huohou Knife Mini Sharpener

It turns out the Huohou sub-brand also produces a knife sharpener with 3 different grits to get the perfect edge. Also, there’s a suction cup at the bottom to give you a stable platform to sharpen your knives.

For those who don’t cook often, it is very important to have a sharp knife as you’ll be able to slice vegetables, fruits, chicken, beef and more with ease. Not only that, but a sharp knife is also much safer as it does not require as much pressure to cut, which reduces the chances of the blade slipping off the cutting surface.

8# Xiaomi Slippers

Other than that, it looks like Xiaomi also makes slippers for use indoors. The slippers are marketed to be light on your feet and thermoplastic rubber ensures you have a proper grip when walking around.

However, it doesn’t seem like Xiaomi plans on bringing these to Malaysia. You might want to settle for a pair of slippers from Ikea or Miniso, as they’re equally as comfortable and a little cheaper.

9# Xiaomi Toothbrush

Did you know that other than the Xiaomi Mi Smart Electric Toothbrush T500, they also sell the non-electric Xiaomi Toothbrush in the Chinese market? It has soft bristles, and it’s great for travelling due to its small size.

Additionally, it might be better to get Xiaomi’s Electric Toothbrush T500 as research have shown that electric toothbrushes are much better for oral hygiene than manual toothbrushes. Also, be sure to floss, too, as bacteria and plaque often get stuck between your teeth.

10# Xiaomi Transparent Sugar Pot

Apparently, Xiaomi’s mascot in China is quite famous to the point that they’ve made a sugar pot that’s the shape of their mascot. For those who are not familiar, sugar pots are used to hold sugar or sugar cubes to be used in tea or coffee.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that Xiaomi will bring this into the Malaysian market. However, some Xiaomi authorised stores have the plush toy version of their mascot in stock if you’re interested in getting that instead.

Where to get some of the products mentioned

Unfortunately, some of the products mentioned other than the ones listed above will not be officially available in the local market. Even if the items were acquired through other means, some of the features might not be usable unless you’re connected to a specific server that’s only available in China. Not only that but the products will also not be covered by an official warranty.

With all that said, what are your thoughts on all the products mentioned above? Did we miss anything else? Let us know on our Facebook page and for more updates like this, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
