As per tradition, Huawei would unveil four Mate models which were the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ and the Porsche Design Mate 40 Pro RS last night. However, there are reports of a hidden fifth member - the Mate 30E Pro and it seems to be exclusive to the China market.

So what's the difference between the Mate 30E Pro and the Mate 30 Pro? Well for starters, the former is using the Kirin 990E and it's an improved chipset of the Kirin 990. Sources say that these two are quite similar, just that the Kirin 990E's pair of Cortex-A76 cores are boosted up to 2.36Ghz (from 2.09GHz) and another four Cortex-A55s are clocked at 1.95GHz (from 1.86GHz). Despite that, the GPU gets a slight downgrade with an MP14 (previously MP16). Nonetheless, the Kirin 990E's SoC architecture is in 7nm+ process.

On the other hand, the Mate 30E Pro is running on EMUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. It looks like the phone is following the Mate 40 series as it will have an orange and green vegan leather back cover while retaining the black, space silver, cosmic purple and emerald green.
